UAW Local 492 in Beaverton – Stellantis – Portland Parts Depot (10030 SW Allen Blvd, Beaverton) continue their 24/7 strike until the Big Three offer a fair deal.

Take a picket shift, organize a group picket, and let us know if you do! (Email sarah@jwjpx.org)!

Let’s get out there and support the workers fighting hard for the future of the working class!

The UAW’s transformative and unequivocal demands include: equal pay for equal work, full seniority status for temps after 90 days, defined benefit pensions for all workers, the restoration of cost-of-living adjustments, the future of electric vehicles being union-made, and for a fair share of the Big Three profits! A UAW win is a win for working people and the climate!

Portland-area UAW Members Stand Up to Corporate Greed, to Inequality, and Strike for Economic Justice!

On September 14th, autoworkers began their historic “Stand Up Strike” by walking out of a Ford assembly plant near Detroit, a GM factory in Wentzville, Missouri, and a Jeep plant run by Stellantis in Toledo, Ohio.  The “Stand Up Strike,” as the UAW is calling it, is modeled on strikes in the 1930s, when GM workers occupied plants to protest inequality

OVER THE LAST FOUR YEARS:

  • Profits at Ford, GM and Stellantis have gone up 65%
  • CEO pay at the companies has gone up 40%
  • Big Three spending on stock buybacks is up 1,500%
  • Average new car prices are up 34%
  • Inflation is up 20%
  • Autoworker wages are up just 6%

Those numbers don’t add up for workers. The Stand Up Strike will make things right.

On Monday, September 18th UAW President Shawn Fain warned the Big Three that if they refuse to make serious progress by noon on Friday, September 22, more locals will be called on to stand up and join the strike. During Friday’s update, UAW said they are making progress at the bargaining table with Ford, but time had run out for the other two automaker giants (GM and Stellantis.) UAW President Shawn Fain announced the new strike targets and invited everyone to join workers on the picket lines, “from our friends and families all the way up to the president of the United States.”

“We will be everywhere from California to Massachusetts, from Oregon to Florida,” Fain continued, and now, more than 5000 UAW members have walked out of 38 General Motors and Stellantis parts distribution centers in 20 states.

In Oregon, that means UAW members who work at the Stellantis Parts Distribution Center in Beaverton (10030 SW Allen Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97005) are ON STRIKE! Monday through Saturday, 7am – 7pm

Stand with UAW members who #StandUp for all of us! Join autoworkers out on the picket line! Bring food, drink, signs, and cheer! Send us your photos, tag us in your posts, and pick up a Realtree JWJ logo shirt to wear on the picket line – just like Shawn Fain!
