Portland Jobs With Justice is Experiencing a Change in Leadership
After several years of incredible leadership, Portland Jobs With Justice (JWJ) Executive Director Jill Pham has chosen to leave her position and move on to another role serving Oregon’s labor movement. Pham led our community-labor coalition through several years of profound growth, taking on new campaigns to challenge injustice and promote workplace solidarity at a global scale.
“Jill has been an incredible asset to the organization and has built us into the powerful coalition we are now, establishing a bond between labor unions and community organizations across our region,” says Portland Jobs With Justice Executive Board co-chair Jacob Faatz. “This is a bittersweet moment. While we will miss having her lead our organization, we know that she will continue to play an active part in building a militant workers movement in our state.”
Pham’s last day as Executive Director will be Monday, August 26th, and we will now begin a search for candidates who would be interested in filling this role. We will soon be accepting applicants, those with experience leading both labor and community campaigns are encouraged to apply.
In the meantime, Jobs With Justice’s Operations Organizer, Tyler Fellini, will be stepping in as an Interim Executive Director to ensure a seamless transition on all of JWJ’s projects and events. Fellini brings a wealth of experience with them, both in designing JWJ’s initiatives, fundraising strategies, and events, and also through their experience in community organizations like the Free Lunch Collective and the New Seasons Labor Union. There is no expected change in our schedule or campaign calendar and Fellini will have the support of the Executive Board and the outgoing Executive Director to ensure that the organization maintains its regular operations. This process is only possible because of the tireless work of all of our staff, and the many volunteers who have maintained our work over the years.
We encourage anyone with an interest in leading a progressive and growing labor-community coalition to send in an application. The Executive Board will lead the hiring process and are looking forward to developing a new leader to drive our organization.
In Solidarity,
PJWJ Executive Board
