The past year has been both incredible and, frankly… frightening for our community. But as we move into the spring and summer months that are always full of warmth and sunshine, we still have so much to celebrate and be grateful for despite the uncertainty and frustration of the times we are currently in with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Workers are still forming unions and organizing for better working conditions. Organizing to defend our community from white supremacy continues. Front line food service workers, nurses, and postal workers are taking action in demand of and winning hazard pay, increased benefits, and new health & safety measures to protect them from infection… Here at JwJ, we continue to be there to support workers and generate community support for these struggles!
We recognize that it is unlikely to be safe enough to gather for events in large numbers by late spring or even throughout the summer. Therefore in the spirit of doing out part to continue to flattening the curve to help ensure we get through this pandemic as quickly, safely, and in the best health possible, we have decided that we need to cancel 2020’s in-person Summer Solidarity Celebration.
But we’re excited to announce that we will be doing something new for us here at JwJ by hosting a Virtual Summer Solidarity Celebration!
