Portland Jobs With Justice Education Fund

Seeking Organizational Equity and Inclusion consulting/counseling work for 2019 with possibility of extension year-to-year through 2021

Our Mission: Portland Jobs with Justice is a coalition of over 100 labor, faith, community and student organizations taking action for workers rights and economic justice, especially with those most marginalized by our economic system such as people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ people and women.  Jobs With Justice believes that all workers should have collective bargaining rights, employment security and a decent standard of living within an economy that works for everyone. We bring together labor, community, student, and faith voices at the national and local levels to win improvements in people’s lives and shape the public discourse on workers’ rights and the economy.

Budget and timeline:

$15,000/yr to start as soon as practicable in 2019

One page proposal detailing your qualifications and 1-2 E&I project work plans you have developed and written due February 11, 2019

Questionnaires sent to 5 selected candidates by February 15, 2019

Candidate approved after visit with PJWJEF board on 2/25/19


  • Consult with Executive Committee and staff to facilitate an internal equity change process
  • Assist in planning recruitment and leadership development efforts, creating a intentional focus on retaining leaders from marginalized communities, in ways that are sustainable and not tokenizing
  • Assist in conducting an assessment of Equity and Inclusion in the organization
  • Assist in developing governance structures that advance Equity and Inclusion
  • Assist in developing staff recruitment, retention, and policies that reflect our values of Equity and Inclusion

Criteria and Qualifications:

  • Must live in the Portland metro area
  • Must be rooted in marginalized communities
  • Must have experience in movement(s) for social and/or economic justice
  • Must have experience in organizational E&I planning and development
  • Familiarity with labor organizing a plus
  • Anti-capitalist orientation a plus
